On New Beginnings

I said somewhere on social media recently that I've been trying to write this post for the past three weeks. Technically, I've had the idea and have been trying to write it for over a month, since I started my new job. Or really, since I found out I'd gotten hired. This should show you… Continue reading On New Beginnings

Book Review: Ninety-Eight by Shannon Mayer

Pain. Heartache. Tears. All of these things are associated with love. That's right, L-O-V-E. Since I was the copy editor on Shannon Mayer's newest contemporary romance Ninety-Eight, I can't exactly review it on Amazon, but I can here on my website. The reason I'm doing this is because you have to read this book. I'm not kidding. In fact, I'm demanding you read this book. I have never before had a book pull so much emotion out of me. It's sweet, funny, heart-wrenching, warm, and soul searching. And it has one helluva plot twist that I will absolutely not give away, but trust me, you'll want to wring the author's neck. I *almost* bought a ticket to Canada.

A New Book by R.C. Murphy

Author R.C. Murphy may only put out two books a year, but they are so worth the wait. In Too Deep is no different. Murphy's attention to detail never ceases to amaze me, and in this book of vampires, the detail gets pretty gruesome in that you might squirm in your seat like I did. *shudders*

Sorry I’m Late!

Blimey! I just opened mine eyes, and lo! I have not updated this since you last visited... You would not believe how insane my life has become. Seriously! I am absolutely consumed with an awfully big adventure, being distracted by the shiny, the Doctor, and just generally being a pain to every man and his… Continue reading Sorry I’m Late!

Formatting 101

Formatting is very simple, but if you're not familiar with MS Word, I'd suggest "playing around" with all its functions or taking a class to learn it better before you begin hacking your or someone else's book to pieces. I've been working with word processing programs for the better part of 20 years and most… Continue reading Formatting 101

Book Reviews 101

Let's talk about book reviews for a moment, shall we? Grab some coffee. This is a long lesson. You picked up a book, you read it, you loved or hated it, and now you'd like to write a review on it for whatever reason you may have. Maybe you enjoy writing book reviews. Perhaps you're good… Continue reading Book Reviews 101

Reworking the Olde

One of the hardest things for an author to do is rework an old story, one that's been sitting on the shelf gathering dust for years. The reason this is difficult is because your writing has vastly improved over the years, and to go back and fix all of your mistakes takes not only an outsider's perspective on the story, which is difficult in itself, but also a sense of humility and courage. Even if you have an editor look at it, there's still so much wrong with it. So why bother? You bother with it because it's still a story you love, just as much as every one that flows from your fingertips, and you want to share that story.
