Back in the Swing of Things?

I can’t remember the last time I sat down and worked–actually worked–on a story.

Over July 4th weekend, I went down to Tucson for a “writing retreat” to visit Kitty, but did I get any writing done? Nope. Plotting, yes; writing, no. On the bright side, I did some research and figured out the plot of my next book Assassin, the second Kick-Ass Girls Club novel. But not a goddamn word of writing was involved. I did, however, decide that I’d like to move back to Tucson. Go figure.

I graduated with my B.A. in English two weeks ago, and since then I’ve had all this free time. It’s overwhelming to the point that I end up watching movies instead because goddamn it all, my brain hurts after doing six classes in eight months, two of which were classes from HELL. It’s like the education sucked the creativity right the fuck out of me.

So my thinking is to start with the blogging again, and maybe that will bring it back. *crosses fingers* I can only hope.

I also have a short story to write and another of my own books to edit, so maybe I’m doubly overwhelmed and that’s the reason I can’t seem to write anything. I know the stories, the characters haven’t stopped talking, but I just can’t seem to put their words on paper, or my screen, as it were. Something’s missing or blocking me and I don’t know what it is. Whatever it is, I need to figure it out so I can get back in the swing of things. I want my stories out there, to tell them to the world.

On that note, I’m going to make an attempt at working on this short story that is way overdue!
