I got word today that my 89-year-old cousin Lucy is not doing well. Her cancer came back not too long ago, and it looks as though it’s ready to take her this time. They started Hospice care at the house, but by the time I called my cousin Lori, they had moved her to a facility because the morphine was no longer working.
All I ask is for everyone to pray for her, to whomever you pray to, so that she doesn’t suffer. She’s been battling all kinds of cancer for as long as I can remember, among other things.
Lucy (Lucia) is the matriarch of my big, fat Italian family, and this is going to be quite a blow to us.
Update: Lucy passed away at 4:45pm AZ time on September 19th, 2009. She passed in her sleep.
